디지털 매체를 기반으로 다채로운 활동을 펼치는 3인의 작가들이 참여한 그룹전시, <Hamonics>의 전시가 프로라타아트 갤러리에서 11월 1일부터 1월 2일까지 두달 동안 전시합니다. 본 전시는 캐나다를 중심으로 활동하는 디지털 아티스트들이 함께하는 그룹전으로, 각 예술가들의 대조적인 작품 세계 안에서 공명하는 조화로움을 발견하고자 합니다.
벤쿠버를 기반으로 활동하는 퍽렌더(Fvckrender, Frederic Duquette, b. 1991)는 디지털 기술을 활용하여 현실과 가상의 경계를 무너뜨리는 작품을 제작합니다. 작가는 일상에서 촬영한 이미지를 관찰한 뒤, 이를 변형시켜 익숙하면서도 낯선 풍경을 작품에 구현합니다. 기하학적 건축 요소부터 다채로운 정물에 이르기까지 현실 세계에서 영감을 받은 그의 작품은 디지털 작업을 통해 기이하고 몽환적인 인상을 자아내며, 현실과 가상 사이의 끊임없이 흐려지는 경계를 통해 현실과 초현실 사이의 언캐니한 지점을 포착합니다. 유명한 디지털 아티스트로 명성이 높은 퍽렌더의 작품은 소더비, 크리스티와 같은 대형 옥션에서 거래되고 있으며, 그는 디올, 슈프림, 하입비스트, 인스타그램과 같은 브랜드 및 88 Rising, 릴 나스 엑스 등 다양한 아티스트들과 활발한 협업을 진행하며 가상과 현실을 오가는 활발한 활동을 선보이고 있습니다.
매드 독 존스(Mad Dog Jones, Michah Dowbak, b. 1985)는 벤쿠버를 기반으로 활동하며 자연의 아름다움과 사이버펑크 이미지를 결합한 작품을 제작합니다. SF 영화, 일본 애니메이션, 그리고 그의 고향인 선더베이의 대자연에서 영감을 받은 작가는 자연과 기술 과학을 조화시켜 사이버펑크와 디스토피아적 이미지를 표현합니다. 작가는 고향을 상징하는 황야의 오렌지 색채와 도시의 네온톤을 활용해 이질적인 요소의 융합을 가시화합니다. 매드 독 존스의 작품은 크리스티 및 소더비에게 거래되었을 뿐 아니라 필립스의 NFT 시장 진출의 시작점이 되었습니다.
빅터 모스케라(Victor Mosquera, b. 1989)는 콜롬비아 출신으로 벤쿠버를 기반으로 활동을 펼치고 있습니다. 그는 의식과 잠재의식의 교차점을 횡단하는 작품 세계를 구축하며, 고대 문명부터 숭배의 요소로 여겨진 태양, 달, 별과 같은 행성에서, 암호화폐, 블록체인 그리고 Web3.0 커뮤니티에 이르기까지 인간 사회와 이를 둘러싼 대상 및 이질적인 개념과의 연결 지점을 다채로운 이미지를 사용해 표현합니다. 그는 일렉트로닉 듀오 오데자(Odeza)의 선다라(Sundara) 축제 이미지 제작을 비롯해 수많은 프로젝트를 작업했습니다.
본 전시<Harmonics>는 현실과 초현실 세계의 조화를 디지털 풍경에 구현하는 퍽렌더(Fvckrender), 도시의 역동성과 자연의 평온을 결합해 공존을 표현하는 매드 독 존스(Mad Dog Jones), 리듬과 멜로디를 다채로운 추상의 형태로 혼합하는 빅터 모스케라(Victor Mosquera) 작품을 폭넓게 선보이고자 합니다. 이들은 디지털 세계와 현실 세계를 넘나드는 다양한 활동을 하고 있으며, 소더비, 크리스티 등 대형 옥션에서 작품이 거래되며 많은 주목을 받고 있습니다. 동시대 디지털 매체를 중심으로 활동하는 작가들의 실물 작품을 선보이는 본 전시가 이들의 독창적인 예술 세계를 탐험하는 유의미한 자리가 될 것으로 기대합니다.

A group exhibition, <Harmonics> featuring three artists who engage in diverse activities based on digital media centered in Canada, at the PRORATA ART Gallery from November 1st to January 2nd. This exhibition is aiming to discover harmonious resonances within the contrasting worlds of each artist's work.
Fvckrender(b. 1991-) drawing inspiration from a range of reality elements, employs his digital processes to create artworks that capture the uncanny point between the real and the surreal. Having a reputation as a promising digital artist, He has collaborated with artists including 88 Rising and Lil Nas X as well as iconic brands like Dior, Supreme, Hypebeast, and Instagram, traversing both virtual and tangible realms.
Mad Dog Jones(b. 1985-) deriving inspiration from sci-fi films, Japanese animation, and the nature in his hometown of Thunder Bay, combines nature with technoscience, depicting scenes reminiscent of cyberpunk visions. Not only have Mad Dog Jones' works been traded at esteemed auction houses such as Christie's and Sotheby's, but they also marked the entrance of Phillips into the NFT market.
Victor Mosquera(b. 1989-) expresses a variety of subject in his own unique style, drawing inspiration from celestial bodies such as the sun, moon, and stars to contemporary concepts like cryptocurrency, blockchain, and the Web3 community. He also worked on numerous other projects including the crafting of festival images for electronic duo Odesza's Sundara event and a collaboration with Willo Perron on the visual production for Kid Cudi's 2019 Coachella performance.
The exhibition, 'Harmonics,' aims to showcase the work of Fvckrender, who embodies the harmony of the real and surreal in digital landscapes; Mad Dog Jones, who combines the dynamism of the city with the tranquility of nature to express coexistence, and Victor Mosquera, who blends rhythm and melody into a diverse abstract form. These artists engage in a wide range of activities bridging the digital and real worlds, with their works traded in major auctions like Sotheby's and Christie's, gaining significant attention. This exhibition, which presents the physical works of contemporary artists working with digital media, is expected to be a meaningful space for exploring their unique artistic worlds.
